Mission Statement for The Writer's Garden

The Writer's Garden is an organized collection of links for college writers and instructors -- a digital library for College Writing. The mission of the Writing Garden is to index as many sites as possible, including college writing centers, their online handouts and writing guides as well as web sites dealing with writing that aren't connected with colleges or universities. In an attempt to assist novice and experienced college writers, visitors to the Writer's Garden will also find links to reference sites, and writing instructors will find links to sites with specific information for them. The Writing Garden brings a good amount of that information together in one place so that a writer seeking help can "shop" around for writing help and pick the advice best suited to his/her writing problem. In organizing the site, I followed the structure of a college writing handbook. You can try to find what you're looking for by using the search engine, or by browsing. If you have time, browsing may reveal many hidden treasures.

It's important to note that the Writer's Garden is a work in progress. It started as my project to fulfill the requirements for ILS 655 - Digital Libraries in the Information and Library Science program at Southern Connecticut State University. The A-Z Site Index was completed in order to fulfill the requirements for ILS 531 - Indexing and Abstracting. It will, however, remain up and running on the web after the course ends, and I will continue to maintain and add to the site as time allows. If you come across any bad links, please email me to let me know so I can update my pages.

**Please note that I am no longer updating the Site Index. The links to the Index have been removed from the main pages of the Writer's Garden. View the unrevised Site Index here: http://www.cyberlyber.com/siteindex.htm. The Idex is also viewable through my Final Portfolio (created to meet the graduation requirements for my Masters in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State Universtiy: http://www.cyberlyber.com/portfolio/portfoliomain.htm (links open to new winodws)
